Cassidy recently let fans in on a little secret about his freestyle battle back in 2001 versus fellow Philadelphia native Freeway.  In a recent interview with VladTV, the rapper reveled that the battle was actually organized by Hip Hop legend Jay Z. Although Cassidy was never close with Hov, he was able to spend this time with him by networking through both of the rappers' good friend super-prouder Swizz Beatz.
Cassidy told VladTV:
"The most time me and Jay Z spent around each other talking was the Freeway battle thing. He the one that set it up. It was me, him and Swizz in the studio before it all went down, so that was the time I really spent the most time around him and really talked to him and all that sh-t."
The "I'm a Hustla" rapper also touched on the current state of Hip Hop in his interview. When asked by VladTV if he believes there is enough lyricism in the game today, Cassidy did not hesitate to relieve his thoughts on the sad reality of the industry.
"Hell no, of course not. It’s definitely not. And you know, that’s the main things I love about hip-hop. Some people like hip-hop for flows. Some people like hip-hop for beats. But what overrules all of that is lyrics, bars. That’s what I like more than anything, and I feel as though it ain’t enough of that."
In addition to the freestyle battle revelation and his comments on the state of Hip Hop today, Cassidy told VladTV that he still believes he has the best bars in the game.
