Mobb Deep Releases Survival of the Fittest EP

Hip Hop Legends Prodigy and Havoc have officially released that fire. 

 

The rap duo has been on the scene for years and they do not seem to be letting up with their new EP.

 

A track-list of the album includes six songs with their ESPN NBA Play-offs hit Survival of the Fittest (ESPN Remix):

Bizzy Bone Responds to Results of Rolling Stones Top 100 List

You could imagine that artists would be pretty upset to find that their prized songs didn’t make it on the world’s most popular magazine, but not Bizzy Bone of legendary hip hop group Bone Thugs N Harmony!

Although The Ohio based group didn’t seem to make the cut for the Billboards Top 100 Hip Hop Songs, they surely didn’t allow this to upset them.

In an interview with hiphopdx.com, Bizzy Bone of the group states that it gave the group a “second wind,” basically giving them an opportunity to seek musical growth and expand their lyrical horizon. 

They’ve decided to create their own list of ways to maneuver into different paths of music inspired by Aerosmith, The Beatles, and many other rock and roll artists. 

The Billboard charts have definitely motivated Bizzy Bone and other members of the group to challenge their musicality and reach a crossroad within their musical career.

According to this interview, I wouldn’t suggest you tune out of listening to Bone Thugs N Harmony just yet, because it sounds like they have a lot in store!

Mobb Deep Drops Fire Freestyle at Tim Westwood’s Crib Sessions!

Hip Hop legends Havoc & Prodigy definitely took Tim Westwood and his crew "back to Cali" with this one! The New York natives have sold over 3 million records in their career and don’t seem to be letting up a bit.

De La Soul Change the Game with a Crowd-Funded Album

Hip hop trio De La Soul has smashed its Kickstarter goal to fund the group’s first album in 11 years.

The untitled LP’s campaign for $110,000 was launched on Monday, and by Tuesday afternoon nearly double that figure had been pledged, according to the group’s Kickstarter page. Instead of sampling from other artists’ work—and getting in trouble with the “sample police,” as De La Soul says—the trio has created over 200 hours of original sounds and vibes.

“We actually don’t call it crowd-funding,” Jolicoeur tells BGR. “We call it fan-funding. From people who believe in what we’re doing.

“Kickstarter is one of those platforms that gives you space to work with people who know you, love you and support you. And lo and behold, look what happened.”

Work on the project has been ongoing over the last three years, as the group hired top L.A. studio musicians and recorded them playing in unrehearsed jam sessions. Most of that recording was done at the Vox studio in L.A., with the group saying they preferred it for the resulting “creamy, analog, warm mixing board sound that the old records our parents once played had.”

The group’s members knew, for example, they wanted to bring in an eclectic set of guests artists like rapper 2 Chainz and David Byrne of the Talking Heads. They wanted the music to turn heads and make a statement. Even more important – they wanted to go the crowd-funding route, to side-step the complications and interference of teaming up with a label, says the group’s Dave Jolicoeur.

The album is expected to ship this September.

Christopher Wallace was tragically shot and killed in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997, his murder still remains unsolved.

Dead at 24 years old, his career spanned only five years but his two albums, Ready to Die and Life After Death left an impact on not just hip hop, but the world. His style and grace, his personality and compassion impacted people and still is respected all over the world.

Celebrities and fans took to Twitter to pay tribute to legend.

while making an appearance on Big Boy’s new Real 92.3 radio show as the DJ’s first guest. “This here’s what it is,I came in this game,” he spits early on. “I stuck my fingers in this game/ I wore no chain in this game/ My hood, my name in this game/Now I double up / Time to bubble up the bread and huddle up.”

The Ten Crack Commandments, Kick In The Door, Juicy, Hypnotize, Warning, One More Chance, Party and Bullshit are just some of his classics. During his career, Biggie made timeless music that has heavy influence on rappers to this day. 

In his hometown of Brooklyn, members of B.I.G.’s crew got together to pay homage to hip-hop legend. Biggie’s ex-wife and R&B singer Faith Evans, his daughter T’yanna Wallace, Lil Cease, Jadakiss, Sheek Louch gathered on-stage to run through a few hits featuring B.I.G. like Lil Kim’s “Crush On You,” and The Lox’s tribute cut “Letter to B.I.G.,” with Faith Evans.

Jadakiss Talks Biggie Smalls, The New York Knicks & DMX In A RecentInterview With ESPN's 'Highly Questionable'

The hosts on ESPN's Highly Questionable might just be in the wrong line of work as they continuously transform into under cover detectives in order to attempt to solve the mystery of which New York Knick the rapper Biggie Smalls allegedly robbed on "I Got A Story To Tell." Hip Hop legend Jadakiss was the latest person to go under interrogation when he recently got a chance to sit down with the Dan Le Batard, Bomani Jones and Gonzalo "Papi" Le Batard,. Highly Questionable soon learned it was no snitching over here after Biggie's friend joked along with the host claiming he did not know because Big wouldn't tell him.

“I still don't know who that player is. Big wouldn’t tell me, I was doing my own investigation, he was saying 6'5. Trying to figure out what Knick was 6'5 back then. He threw you off, though, because he also said 'rained out.' A basketball game can't get rained out. So, Big was trying to mess with you a little bit on there, too."
The Yonkers rapper was also asked if he believed former NBA player John Starks when he claimed he was not the man B.I.G. spoke about in the song. "I don't know, got a chance. It could have been Starks, baby,"said Jada. But he did jokingly provided a couple additional guesses, "Out of my candidates, it would have to be Mason, Larry Johnson, maybe Derek Harper. Could have been any of that team. Those were the crazy Knicks back then."

While in the hot seat, Jada paid his respect to the Notorious B.I.G. He reminisced on the time he knew he had made it in the music industry when he met up with Biggie and he verified his group The LOX.

"Meeting the Notorious B.I.G. and him telling me and my group, 'You guys have what it takes to make it in the industry,'that was the battery in my back that I needed. That was the motivational speech or whatever that got me still going to this day."

The rapper went on in the interview to elaborate on his wild adventures with fellow rapper DMX and even offered Papi hilarious advice as to how to get the groupies off of his back. But as for the answer to what NY Knick Biggie references on his song remains an #UnsolvedHipHopQuestion.
