Seth Rollins Leaves Wrestlemania a Champion While Ronda Rousey Takes Down The Authority

Like many people, I was shocked at how good Wrestlemania 31 was. 76,976 people filling up Levi's Stadium took fifth for the all time record for Mania attendees. So much awesome-ness in one show I don't know where to start so here's a re-cap of the night.

Pre-show
Andre the Giant Battle Royal: Big Show
Fatal 4 way Tag Match: Tyson Kidd and Cesaro

Main Card
Intercontinental Championship: Daniel Bryan
Randy Orton defeats Seth Rollins
No Disqualification: Triple H
AJ Lee and Paige defeat The Bella Twins
United States Championship: Cena
Undertaker defeats Bray Wyatt

Main Event
World Heavy-weight Championship: Seth Rollins

You read that right, the guy with his dick on the internet is the WWE Heavy-weight Champion. He may not have pinned Brock but he gave Reigns the Curb Stomp of his life for the win. Speaking of Curb Stomps, the match between Rollins and Orton was my favorite of the night, after Taker, of course. Randy Orton pops out of a Curb Stomp throwing Rollins in the air with just his head. I could watch it over and over. The old men get a little help from their friends when The nWo and DX make their way to the ring half way through the match. Definitely something to check out if you didn't catch the PPV. Might as well skip the Cena match. It was long and boring and pissed me off from the beginning. Why did Rusev come out in a tank?
I had a good time watching Wrestlemania this year. WWE really stepped up their game. Giving us something to look forward to The Rock has teamed up with Ronda Rousey to take on The Authority. After Stephanie insults Rock with a slap in the face, he searches the crowd for a familiar face. I don't watch UFC but I recognized the name. Ronda was ready to go right then and there taking out Hunter with a judo throw. She looks like she will own the WWE ring for sure.
Nothing made me happier than watching The Deadman kick ass. He looked great out there, off the top rope, out of the ring, in the ring. It was magic. Wyatt should have known better than to try to raise hell. Hell will destroy you.

Jay Z Reveals Plans for Tidal, a Streaming Music Service

On Monday, Jay Z, the rapper and entertainment mogul, announced his plans for Tidal, a subscription streaming service he recently bought for $56 million. Facing competition from Spotify, Google and other companies that will soon include Apple, Tidal will be fashioned as a home for high-fidelity audio and exclusive content.

But perhaps the most notable part of Jay Z’s strategy is that a majority of the company will be owned by artists. The move may bring financial benefits for those involved, but it is also powerfully symbolic in a business where musicians have seldom had direct control over how their work is consumed.

“This is a platform that’s owned by artists,” Jay Z said in an interview last week as he prepared for the news conference announcing the service. “We are treating these people that really care about the music with the utmost respect.”

The plan was unveiled on Monday at a brief but highly choreographed news conference in Manhattan, where Jay Z stood alongside more than a dozen musicians identified as Tidal’s owners. They included Rihanna, Kanye West, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Jack White, Alicia Keys, the country singer Jason Aldean, the French dance duo Daft Punk (in signature robot costumes), members of Arcade Fire, and Beyoncé.

Early Monday, artists associated with Tidal began promoting the service on social media through the tag #TIDALforALL. That stirred excitement among fans, although some in the music business and the technology world remain skeptical about Tidal’s chances against players like Apple and Spotify.

The stars stood side-by-side and signed an unspecified “declaration.” Jay Z did not speak, but Ms. Keys read a statement expressing the musicians’ wish “to forever change the course of music history.”

Several artists have already thrown their support behind TIDAL, changing their Twitter icons to light blue and tweeting the hashtag #TIDALForAll. Among them, Kanye West, Jack White’s Third Man Records, and Arcade Fire:

There are two paid subscription options: $19.99 a month for high-fidelity audio, and $9.99 for standard quality audio. TIDAL can be streamed on the web, and downloaded for iOS and Android devices.

A-Rod's Good Day at 1B, an Update on Mark Teixeira's Injury, and Another Impressive Outing from Nathan Eovaldi

The Alex Rodriguez-to-first base experiment will last beyond Sunday. In fact, it might happen again this week.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he liked what he saw from Rodriguez in his first three innings of his career at first base in a 7-0 win over the Astros at Osceola County Stadium. He believed he could plug Rodriguez, who went errorless in three chances, into the position in the regular season if needed.

"It's not something we're looking to do," Girardi said. "But if something happens to one of our other guys, I would feel comfortable throwing him out there. I think he would handle it just fine."

Girardi added that he was impressed with the backhanded play A-Rod made on an Evan Gattis sharp grounder to end the second inning. Rodriguez momentarily bobbled the ball before firing it to starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi at first base for the out.

"That was a very uncomfortable play, that’s for sure," Rodriguez said. "Kind of an in-between hop for a righthander. I’m just glad we got a guy out. I felt like a quarterback hitting my tight end on the run. I’ve never done that before. It felt good. It was fun. It was quite interesting, after 20 years to see the game through a totally different lens. It was pretty cool."

Rodriguez had seen very limited work at first base recently, though all spring Girardi has said he'd like to consider him a third-string option there. Starter Mark Texieria has been healthy almost all spring - except for Sunday, when a pitch hit him in a minor league game and bruised his knee. And Garrett Jones will be Teixeira's primary backup, Girardi has said.

Image Credit: Corey Sipkin/New York Daily News

Teixeira was the designated hitter in a game between Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Double-A Trenton when a ball struck his kneecap. He went into a kneeling position in front of the plate after being hit by the fourth-inning pitch. He left the field with a limp, which was gone by the time he reached Steinbrenner Field.

After he returned to Steinbrenner Field from the minor league complex, Teixeira said he was "fine." He said no tests were planned.

He won't play until Wednesday, manager Joe GIrardi said. "Hopefully it was nothing," Girardi said. "He got hit on the side of the leg here. Hopefully it's nothing. I left him back there so he wouldn't have to make a long road trip back here and that didn't work out so well."

Nathan Eovaldi continued to show to impress on Sunday with a live fastball and a developing splitter. He held the Houston Astros to one hit (Jed Lowrie's second-inning double) in the first 3-1/3 innings. He allowed two singles in the fourth and both runners advanced on a wild pitch, but Eovaldi then quelled the threat with two fly outs. He got the first two hitters of the fifth inning and he was done, the only negative being that he needed 89 pitches to get there. Through three starts, his spring ERA is 0.66, he has struck out 14 in 13-2/3 innings and most impressively, has yet to walk a batter.

"All of my pitches are working really well right now. I’ve just got to work on rushing to the plate," said Eovaldi, who was not as thrilled about his high pitch count.

"I worked a lot of 3-2 counts. It was just tough for me to put them away," he said. "I felt like they were fouling off every pitch. I felt like I’d get ahead 1-2, 0-2 and then they’d work the count 3-2. It’s important to me to be able to put them away with one or two pitches."

Raekwon Not Touring with Wu-Tang Clan, Another Freestyle from Style P,and the Beastie Boys Are Officially Over

Wu Tang Clan’s A Better Tomorrow was a huge flop. There’s no denying that.

Raekwon thinks he knows why the collective’s sixth album failed to connect with audiences, despite heavy promotion and the past success Wu Tang has accumulated throughout their legendary career.

“That album felt kinda bored,” Raekwon told NME. “And that’s not just my opinion. The music was just too soft. Too humble. I felt like the album could have been better. I voiced my opinion, like, ‘Yo, let’s give them some real shit.’ The album was driven more to RZA’s expectations. He was coming from one way. We was wanting to try something new.”

He added that he won’t be touring with Wu-Tang this year, but it's not because of any beef.

“I ain’t going on the road with Wu-Tang this year. Fans will think it’s beef in the group, but it’s all management,” The Chef said. “I didn’t know shit about the tour. They just assume I’m good to be there and put it all together, but by then I got obligations, a fucking schedule. It’s frustrating, ‘cos I’d love to be there.”

Instead, Raekwon will be promoting his solo album Fly International Luxurious Art, which is scheduled to drop on April 28th.

In an interview with GQ, [former] Beastie Boy Adam Horovitz confirmed what many had already suspected: The Beastie Boys are no more.

According to Horovitz (Ad-Rock), the band died with founder Adam Yauch (MCA), who passed in 2012 of thyroid cancer.

Are the Beastie Boys done?

“We’re done. Oh yeah. Adam Yauch started the band. It’s not like a thing where we could continue without him.”

Never contemplated it?

“No.”

"It's probably just taken me time to sit and think and try to figure out what I do next or who I am now or, you know, all of that stuff," he said. "Because since high school, I was in this band. And you know, it's one thing when you're in a band in high school, but then to have it last for so long -- that's who I am and what I did forever. And so now I'm just trying to figure it out."

For Horovitz, it's more than just a band breaking up, it's losing a brother.

"Adam was one of my best friends; I saw him more than I saw my whole family," he said. "You know, me, Adam, and Mike were together every day, recording, touring, as friends. And so: huge hole. The other part of it is the being able to afford to just sit around and think, because I think it's good that I can have time to sort of figure out how to get through it all.

"You can never prepare yourself for this," he added.

Yauch, a.k.a. MCA, was diagnosed with cancer in 2009. He co-founded the Beastie Boys with Mike “Mike D” Diamond and Horovitz in 1979.

Alex Rodriguez to Debut at 1B Sunday, Mark Teixeira's New Diet, and David Ortiz Fights Steroid Allegations Once Again.

On Sunday, Alex Rodriguez will play first base in a major-league ballgame -- in fact, in a ballgame at any level -- for the first time in his life.

Image Credit: Corey Sipkin/ New York Daily News

"I'm excited about it," he said. "I told Joe [Girardi] to really keep a close eye on me. He said he will."

Rodriguez has taken a few grounders at first this spring, and earlier this week Girardi said he worked on some of the finer points of the position, such as where to go on relays from the outfield and how to defense the bunt. But in truth, Rodriguez has only scratched the surface of learning the position; his brand-new first baseman's glove is still being broken in for him by a clubbie.

"I haven't even started to learn," he said. "I've done a few things. I'll tell you about it after [the game]."

Rodriguez has had a pretty good spring at the plate (.303, 2 HRs, 3 RBI), is the  third option at first base, behind Mark Teixeira and backup Garrett Jones. Mainly, his responsibilities will be to DH and play a little third base to give Chase Headley a day off now and then.

According to Mark Teixeira, he lost 13 pounds of fat and added 15 pounds of muscle this offseason in hopes to stay healthy and get back to his old production.

“Last year was really, really difficult, physically and mentally,’’ said Teixeira, who was limited to 123 games due to a lingering right wrist problem as well as a back injury. “I felt like garbage all season. When you are feeling like that and trying to perform, you get beaten down and you wonder, ‘Am I ever going to be the same?’ This offseason I asked my body to do a lot of things, and it responded. That’s the exciting thing, everything I wanted to accomplish I did, and I feel great going into the season.’’

So the latest cure-all, the latest bid to get back to the 30-home run, 100-RBI plateaus that Teixeira has been chasing since he last reached them in 2011, is diet. This winter, he hired a new trainer and embarked on a quest to reduce inflammation in his body via the food he eats.

“I think the diet was a big thing; I had a really high inflammatory diet,” Teixeira said. “When I told my trainer I had three cortisone shots in my wrist and two in my back, he said, ‘It sounds like you have a lot of inflammation in your body.’ Hopefully taking care of those type of things, the aches and pains, the little muscle pulls and the inflammation in your joints, hopefully those things go away.”

With that goal in mind, Teixeira did away with foods containing dairy, gluten or sugar—he calls it the “no-fun diet”—and replaced those perceived offenders with leaner foods like bison and salmon. It’s a variation on a health movement known as “elimination diets,” wherein entire food groups are cut out in an effort to avoid either their fattening or inflammatory effects.

“No gluten, no dairy, no sugar,’’ Teixeira said of the diet Prentiss suggested to curb the inflammation running through Teixeira’s body. “We attacked all those things I have been having and I got myself really strong. I feel really strong. I was weaker than I had ever been in my entire career last year.’’

I think I can speak for all Yankee fans when I say that it would be great to see Tex get back to his old- 30 home run-100 RBI form.

For whatever reason, David Ortiz decided the dog days of spring training in 2015 were the right time to take on the topic of his suspected steroid past again, seemingly throwing some caution to the wind while laying out his timeline of events, as well as some other inaccuracies that pepper his  2,396-word piece at The Players' Tribune.

He wrote, “I never knowingly took any steroids.’’ This is the old Barry Bonds defense. The word “knowingly” is an indicator of ignorance. You are a professional athlete. It’s up to you to know what you are taking. Don’t use the ignorance defense.

“In some people’s minds, I will always be considered a cheater,” Ortiz writes. “And that’s bull****. Mark my words: Nobody in MLB history has been tested for PEDs more than me. You know how many times I’ve been tested since 2004? More than 80. They say these tests are random. If it’s really random, I should start playing the damn lottery. Some people still think the testing is a joke. It’s no joke. Ten times a season these guys come into the clubhouse or my home with their briefcases. I have never failed a single one of those tests and I never will.”

Those are the bold, harsh, and defiant words from Ortiz, who probably doesn’t want it pointed out that Alex Rodriguez has never failed an MLB drug test under those parameters either. For all their profane bravado, Ortiz's words managed to do little to silence his critics. If he accomplished anything, it may have opened old wounds and invited further question of his motives.

Ortiz’s name was linked to performance-enhancing drugs in 2009, when The New York Times reported that he and former teammate Manny Ramirez were among the roughly 100 Major League Baseball players to test positive for illicit substances in 2003. Ortiz has varied his handling of the topic over the years, from vehemently pledging to get to the bottom of it six years ago, to ignoring the accusations outright, to coming out guns blazing at a time when nobody was publicly pressing the issue.

It's baffling as to why Ortiz felt the need to bring up such a controversial issue when nobody was talking about it. Is this an indicator of guilt? Or is he that desperate to clear his PED tarnished name?

A$AP Rocky Announces Second Album "At.Long.Last.ASAP"

ASAP Rocky has revealed details of his next studio album. The follow-up to LongLiveASAP is titled At.Long.Last.ASAP, and features contributions from Lykke Li, FKA twigs, and Clams Casino. The new album was executive produced by Danger Mouse and recorded in both London and Los Angeles.

In an interview with GQ, Rocky explained the album’s title: “I’m claiming ownership of my legacy. Look at it: At.Long.Last.ASAP. A-L-L-A. Like slang for ‘Allah.’ It’s the return of the god MC. I’m named after Rakim, and I’m finally facing what it means: I was born to do this shit. And I hope I get to do it for a very long time.”

In a separate interview with Billboard, the Harlem MC discussed the diversity of the album: “People really don’t know the other side of me. The deeper side, the more musical side, the more intellectual side. When I first came on the scene it was more of this trendy, bourgeois, pizazz attitude. That’s still me but at the end of the day I think that kind of overshadowed the whole purpose of me doing what I do. I’m an incredibly diverse artist, I’m a universal artist. At least that’s how I see it.” As such, the album will feature “psychedelic ’60s London and introspection,” Rocky singing, and acoustic guitar, according to GQ.

A release date has not yet been announced, but Rock confirmed the album is finished and will arrive “soon.”

A Roger Clemens Movie, Titled "The Rocket," is in Development.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer Teddy Schwartzman and his company Black Bear Pictures acquired the rights to the Rocket script, which follows Clemens during the later stages of his career. Schwartzman was a producer on The Imitation Game, nominated for eight Oscars at the 2015 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.

Jeffrey Gelber and Ryan Belenzon wrote the script, which delves into the latter half of the career of Clemens, one of the greatest pitchers of all time, who was nicknamed “The Rocket” for his unhittable fastball. But Clemens, an All-American at the University of Texas who started his professional career with the Boston Red Sox, also became something of a tarnished figure in the sport after his former trainer, Brian McNamee, claimed that the pitcher used steroids. The story chronicles the relationship between the two at the point in Clemens’ career when he began to lose his fastball.

Clemens was called before Congress and denied McNamee’s allegations under oath. A federal grand jury indicted Clemens on six felony counts involving perjury, false statements and obstruction of Congress, to which Clemens pleaded not guilty. He was eventually found not guilty on all six counts in 2008, one year after he retired from baseball after 24 seasons. Despite his impressive career, he has not been elected to the Hall of Fame.

The Hollywood Reporter says Warner Bros. was in contention at one point, with the thought that Bradley Cooper would play Clemens, however he doesn't have much of a resemblance to the Rocket. Perhaps Ben Affleck would be a good fit. Although it would be quite difficult to get him in the Yankees uniform.

Raw Recap, and a Look at Wrestlemania; The Most Wonderful Time of Year!

Besides being the #1 pay-per-view, Wrestlemania is my favorite PPV for many reasons. First off, it's usually on, or very close, to my birthday! Second, it's the only time of year we get to talk about The Undertaker. Hall of Fame, celebrity guests, and for one weekend out of the year I can showcase how sincerely crazy I am about wrestling to the general public. How could you not love Wrestlemania? It is "The Grandest Stage of Them All."

Wrestling aside, I think WWE is trying to tell us something about weed. Brainwashing the children into thinking smoking bud is one thing. For the second week in a row, one of the biggest celebrity stoners graced our television screens. I feel like there's more behind this than coincidence. Is Vince telling us to support the legalization of weed? I sure hope so.

My favorite part of Monday night was Stephanie and Sting. He brings something back from the good days of wrestling. Makes you wanna sit and watch the whole show. Stephanie's so good! Slapping Sting and creeping up with the sledge hammer for her man. Trips walking out to Terminator music. Definitely a great way to open the show. I am truly excited for his first match ever in a WWE ring. HISTORY IN THE MAKING! I can not wait for Sunday!

José Pirela Injury, Stephen Drew Still Struggles, and Roy Halladay Isn't a Fan of A-Rod

One of the New York Yankees' top prospects José Pirela sustained a concussion after crashing into the center-field wall on a play in the first inning that ended up an inside-the-park home run for the New York Mets' Juan Lagares.

Image Credit: (John Bazemore | AP)

Pirela, who complained of dizziness, was taken by ambulance from the complex to Tradition Medical Center, where a brain CT scan and a cervical MRI both came back negative and he was released from the hospital. But he does have a concussion, the Yankees tweeted. He will be out an indefinite period.

With manager Joe Girardi looking on earlier Sunday, a Yankees trainer examined Pirela, a versatile 25-year-old who has played several positions this spring. Pirela was able to walk and was helped into a golf cart.

Pirela had been hot this spring, hitting .370 (10-for-27) with three doubles and two triples; he was appearing to play himself into the lineup, especially with the Yankees' Jacoby Ellsbury out with an abdominal injury.

Pirela played briefly with the Yankees last year after being called up. He collected eight hits in 24 at-bats.

"You just don't know. Some guys respond quicker than others. You wouldn't think a second baseman has had a significant number [of concussions] like a catcher, so sometimes the response is quicker. We have to wait and see. I hope not," he said.

He also went on to say how valuable Pirela is and what he could provide for the Yankees.

"He provides excitement with his speed, and we're moving him all around. We think he could possibly help us in a lot of different spots," Girardi said. "That makes a player very valuable when he can play four or five different spots on a field. That flexibility is a great thing to have."

José Pirela clearly seems to be a way better option than the current situation at second base Stephen Drew.

Image Credit: Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Drew, who batted .162 last year for Boston and the Yankees, is hitting .161 this spring, after going 0 for 3 and striking out twice on Sunday.

The Yanks have made clear that Drew is not competing for the second base job. He will be the Opening Day second baseman. But with the experts seeing a slow bat and wondering if the 32-year-old Drew is shot, you wonder if we’ll see Jose Pirela or Rob Refsnyder before summer.

"We signed him to be our second baseman," Girardi said. "Our plan for it is to be Stephen."

He asked to play second base, a position he had never played much, having been a shortstop all of his career. In the first home game last week in spring Drew booted the first ball hit to him. He said afterwards he's still learning the right angles to take to the ball and that he's still getting comfortable playing the position.

In the view of most scouts, Pirela is already far more deserving -- although the buzz on him accumulated before Sunday’s ugly concussion, which makes his immediate future uncertain. As for Refsnyder, expect defense closer to Daniel Murphy levels: Competent, but not exactly smooth. Pirela is more nimble and versatile.

One player that surprisingly has not been a disappointment this spring training is Alex Rodriguez, who is currently fighting for a spot on the Yankees as a DH. He has been having a decent spring training for a guy who didn't play at all during the 2014 season.

But while many people have been pleasantly surprised with A-Rod, some people have not forgotten what he has done and continue to take jabs at him. You would like to say this little tweet by retired former Cy Young winner Roy Halladay was all in fun, but it was a needless, direct shot. Anyway, even with Alex Rodriguez on his best behavior, Halladay chose to take a dig at No. 13.

Then he followed that up with another Tweet:

Seems like someone was getting feisty on social media in their retirement.

Chase Headley Making a Statement During Spring Training

Opening Day is still nearly four weeks away, but Chase Headley has taken a regular-season approach to the plate during spring training.

Image Credit: Corey Sipkin/New York Daily News

Headley hit his second home run of Spring Training against the Phillies, finishing 1-3. He now has a 1.080 OPS this spring.

The 30-year-old Headley was signed to a four-year, $52 million contract in the offseason after playing 58 games with the Yankees last season, hitting .262. The former Padre will stick at third base as long as he's healthy in 2015; Alex Rodriguez will back him up but should only play in emergency situations.

Words like leader, sincere and disciplined follow him. “A real grinder,” said General Manager Brian Cashman, who compared Headley to Scott Brosius, the third baseman who won three World Series with the Yankees.

Headley's one of three every-day switch-hitters in the Yankees' lineup, a boost for Girardi to plug in either he, Mark Teixeira or Carlos Beltran into the lineup. On Tuesday, the combination of pitchers used by the Orioles had his hitters switching sides every other at-bat.

“It’s tough to figure out what you’re trying to do early,” Headley said. “You really want to see pitches, track the ball good out of the pitchers’ hands. I didn’t feel very good doing that, wasn’t seeing them like I wanted to, so I figured today I’d be a little bit more aggressive, try to take it a little more like regular-season at-bats. I think that put my rhythm and timing in better spots. It was good. It doesn’t mean a whole lot, but you want to get hits.”

Headley says his right-handed swing is typically ahead of his left (he throws right) but this year's not quite been the case.

"Being a switch hitter, that's the life of it," he said. "You're always fighting one side or another...generally the right-handed comes a little bit quicker but this year maybe a little bit the opposite."

Pete Rose Seeks Reinstatement

Rob Manfred said Monday that Pete Rose has formally reapplied to have his lifetime ban lifted. That decision would be Manfred's, so the Major League Baseball Players Association would have no jurisdiction in the matter and likely would not even be asked for its input.

Image Credit: (Photo: Al Behrman, AP)

Manfred said Monday that he would take some time to consider whether or not to lift Rose's lifetime ban from the game. Former commissioners Fay Vincent and Bud Selig never even considered Rose's previous efforts towards reinstatement.

Rose was convinced that Bud Selig would pardon him before he left office three weeks ago, lifting his ban and finally opening the door to let the voters decide whether he'll be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Rose, of course, received a lifetime ban from baseball in 1989 amid allegations that he bet on games both as a player and a manger for the Cincinnati Reds. During his playing days Rose set and still holds the record with 4,256 career hits.

Count Director of the MLB Players Union Tony Clark among those who support Pete Rose' bid for reinstatement. "I would love to see Pete reinstated," Clark said, after meeting with players for the Detroit Tigers during his annual tour of spring training according to ESPN's Jayson Stark. "He made a decision. He made a decision that was not the right decision. He made a decision that he has paid a price for."

Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he thinks there will come a time "when we all kind of move on." Mattingly said he first met Rose in a spring training game when Rose was playing for the Montreal Expos. "I got a hit off somebody, and he said, '200 a year, kid. Just get 200 a year. 'Any time I see him, I love seeing him," Mattingly said. "Obviously, as a kid, I loved Pete and the way he played. I'm not going to get into all the politics and everything that goes along with that, but I love Pete and I think Pete's a great player."

"I just want to be on that writers' ballot,'' Rose says. "Let the writers decide. If they want me in, I'm in. If they don't feel I should be in, I can live with it. Once they lift my ban, I should be just like anyone else. If I've never been on the ballot, my clock should start at zero. That will give them 10 years to decide, if they need it.''

"I'll always have hope," Rose says. "That's all I've got."

Do you think the all-time MLB hit leader faced enough punishment? Or do you think Pete Rose should be banned from Major League Baseball for life?

Let me know what you think:

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Birdman Performs With Young Thug & Travis Scott at the 'Rodeo Tour' in Philadelphia

Shit got real crazy in the City of Brotherly Love this past Saturday when Travis Scott and Young Thug brought the Rodeo Tour to Philly for a stop at the Trocadero. If you're a fan of either of these two controversial performers, this tour is everything you could have ever hoped for, and if you're not a fan, or even just a bit curious as to what all the hype is about, the Rodeo Tour can turn even the most skeptical of non-believers.

Thugger and Travis take the term 'Turn Up' to a whole new level on the Rodeo Tour, and it's safe to say the Trocadero hadn't seen a show quite like this in a long time. A sold out crowd was lined up around the block and throughout the surrounding Chinatown neighborhood for hours before doors opened, and by the time they got inside the building...it was ON. If you've ever been to a death metal concert, you know what a mosh pit looks like. Now picture that same scene spread out among 1,500 crazy motherfuckers who just don't give a fuck, and you've got the Rodeo Tour. The building was shaking before Thug or Scott even hit the stage, thanks to a ridiculous warmup set from one of the hottest DJ's in the game right now...Metro Boomin' as he took shit from a 10 to a 12 before anyone even touched a microphone.

The actual live show started over an hour late, but judging by the reception from the crowd when Young Thug and Travis Scott took the stage in tandem, they would've waited all night for the arrival of two of the games most controversial young talents. It's no secret Young Thug is surrounded by controversy, and Travis Scott is controversial in his own right, but less than 10 minutes into their set, it was obvious to see why Young Thug remains one of the most popular figures in hip hop, and Travis Scott is well on his way to claiming the title of 'Next.'

The energy Travis Scott brings to the stage is undeniable, and is matched and exceeded only by his unusually loyal fans who react to every word that comes out of his mouth and create an ocean of movement you won't see anywhere but the Rodeo Tour. Travis Scott is on the come up, and he's hungry. Like Young Thug, he doesn't give a fuck what anyone thinks, and is clearly there to do his thing, his way, and his thing is apparently getting fucking crazy. Looking down from the balcony of the Trocadero as Travis belted out hit after hit as the rowdy crowd railed against one other, two thoughts immediately came to mind: "Damn I'm glad I'm not down there," and "Damn, that looks FUN!" Hopefully Travis Scott makes another stop in Philly soon, and if he does, it's safe to say 1,500 fans will be waiting for him again.

Young Thug brings the same "Fuck it" attitude as Travis Scott, only with a slightly more polished and swaggered demeanor. Thug knows people are watching him, and he doesn't care. He has his own unique personality and style, both on and off the mic, and he brings an undeniable charisma to the stage along with it. Thug's catalogue has continued to grow in recent years, full of hits that are recognizable from the first second the track hits. Thug has that one of a kind delivery that draws you in, and he brought it to Philly. The same crowd that reacted with reckless abandon for Travis Scott gave Thug's offering the same response, rapping along with the Atlanta based star as he put his flow on display for the full house. You can tell Thug is in the zone when he hits the stage. Not sure what 'zone' he is in on any given day, but it's a zone of his own and it translates to an entertaining performance every time.

For those wondering, there was no 'dissing' from Thug towards his on-again, off-again sidekick Rich Homie Quan or Lil Wayne, but he did make sure to surprise the crowd by bringing out the one and only Birdman for the show's grand finale. The Cash Money legend helped close the show in style, performing some of his classic hits for an appreciative crowd before thanking them for their support and leaving on top, where he has been for close to 20 years.

The Rodeo Tour delivered in all aspects. Thug and Travis Scott hit on all cylinders and fulfilled the promise of a crazy night at the Trocadero. If Thug can stay focused, the sky remains the limit for him, and Travis Scott seems to only be scratching the surface of his potential. The future is bright for both. Hopefully this isn't the last Philly sees of this duo and if they come back.....we will be there.

DeMarco Murray Finds His New Home With the Philadelphia Eagles

Now that the Eagles have landed DeMarco Murray, they'll be replacing the NFL's leading rusher in 2013 (LeSean McCoy) with 2014's leading rusher.

"I felt that this was a great opportunity for me to win a Super Bowl, at the end of the day," Murray said Thursday after signing a five-year, $42 million contract with the Eagles. "It wasn't about financial security or anything like that. Obviously, you want something that you deserve, something that is respectful. Those two things are important to me, and I was able to accomplish that. I think the Eagles have a great chance to win a Super Bowl."

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said the team originally thought that Murray, the NFL's leading rusher in 2014, would be out of the team's price range. The Eagles tried to sign former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore. After initially agreeing to terms with the Eagles, though, Gore decided to sign with the Indianapolis Colts.
After Gore told the Eagles he was joining the Colts, Kelly placed a call to Murray.

It's strange to say that Lesean McCoy, someone who racked up 2,926 rushing yards over the past two seasons with the Eagles -- collecting a rushing title in 2013-- is a poor fit for Chip Kelly's system. However, DeMarco Murray seems to be a better fit for the offense that Kelly runs. In an Eagles offense designed to give runners multiple tracks at the line of scrimmage, Murray's combination of body control, vision and power will make him a first-down machine as the designated workhorse of a zone-based running scheme.

Although Eagles fans were baffled and upset by some of the moves the team made, the Eagles saw their Super Bowl odds improve with this latest move in their offseason overhaul. After initially holding steady on the Eagles, the Westgate SuperBook moved the Eagles from 20-1 to 16-1 to win the Super Bowl following the Murray news.

Do you think DeMarco has improved his chances of winning a championship? Did Chip Kelly upgrade the situation in the Eagles' backfield by trading away McCoy and getting Murray?

Let me know what you think:

Kendrick Lamar's 'To Pimp A Butterfly' Making Huge Headlines

In Kendrick Lamar's still-young reign as one of hip-hop's leading voices, he's tackled institutionalized racism, black self-love, addiction and the evils of materialism. Kendrick Lamar shared the cover of his new album To Pimp A Butterfly on Instagram. It's bold, and it fits with everything Lamar has shared from the album, which is a bombshell of political and social criticism.

To Pimp a Butterfly was expected to drop on March 23, but K Lamar doesn’t play by the rules.

The 16-track album opens with "Wesley's Theory," featuring George Clinton and Thundercat, and there's collabs with the likes of Bilal, Anna Wise, Snoop Dogg, James Fauntleroy, Ronald Isley and Rapsody. Lamar had already shared two new songs, "The Blacker the Berry" and "King Kunta," both of which appear on the album.

"To Pimp a Butterfly" tracklist

'The Baddest Bitch' Trina, Set To Release New Album

Across five albums and nearly two decades since, Trina has continued to play the same role for a generation of women. Fans love her contagious confidence, her commitment to emotional honesty, how she can rock a skintight red carpet dress.

With her vocal support of other women, her willingness to switch between vulnerable and powerful, her unspoken pledge to do things on her own terms, she has slated herself as a powerful female figure in hiphop.

Earlier this week, Trina signed with Penalty Entertainment, home to eMC and others. The Miami rapper is scheduled to release her sixth album later this year, a project featuring the single “The Real One” with Rico Love and released in conjunction with her own Rockstarr Music Group.

This week, Trina dropped two singles from her still-untitled sixth album. The first song is an unlikely Bill Withers-sampling party anthem that features T-Pain and Young Cash. The second, is a rap ballad with a Rico Love hook. On it, Trina laments over failed romances and her habit of consistently choosing the wrong men, with lyrics that will prompt yet more discussions about the very public end of her sort-of relationship with French Montana. Together, though, the two songs suggest that she's willing to try anything to make her next project stick.

Trina herself commented on the news, letting fans know that she is ready to bring things to the next level musically. “This is the beginning of a new direction and stage within my career,” adding, “I am beyond excited to share this phase with the world as I continue to evolve.”

This will be Trina’s first album since 2010’s Amazing, which peaked at Number 13 on the Billboard Top 200 albums chart. Since then, Trina has released a series of mixtapes, some of which have been promoted with the release of singles. 2015 will be a busy year for the rapper, who is also working on starring in a docudrama series.

Some Tips for Fantasy Baseball in 2015

March is fantasy baseball draft month. So I'll be giving a few hints that I've learned over the years while running fantasy baseball teams.

1. Don't obsess over a player:
For some reason, us baseball fans like to get emotionally attached to certain players. It's a beautiful game full with colorful and admirable personalities. But statistics speak for themselves. Don't hone in on building a team around one player. If the player isn't the shell of a player he used to be, do not draft him.

2. Don't let your favorite team effect your draft:
Every league has one. The all-too-loyal team owner that lets their loyalty to their favorite team get in the way of drafting a good fantasy team.

You know them. They will have Chase Utley as their second baseman, Ryan Howard as their first baseman, Ben Revere in the outfield, and Cliff Lee and Cole Hammels as two of their starters. They probably have their team named "The Phanatics."

There isn't a team in Major League Baseball chock-full of fantasy stars, so don't bother to reason having more than three players from the same team. You want a balanced team that doesn't have 5 players missing due to a rain-out.

Also, make sure your team's rival doesn't deter you from drafting some good players. If you're a Yankees fan, don't be afraid to draft a Red Sox player if he has some value.

3. Wait to draft pitchers:
This strategy is similar to the "wait-on-the-quarterback" approach in fantasy football. Yes, Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed ace Clayton Kershaw is the best pitcher in baseball, and it isn't close. However, you'll have to draft him within the first couple of picks, but his price is too much when factoring in that pitching is usually available during the late rounds. Reigning AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber of the Cleveland Indians was taken late during nearly every draft last year, and ended up leading many people to a fantasy baseball championship. He's a rare case, but with all 30 teams in MLB having five-man rotations, it's a lot easier to find a handful of starters to help your team.

Also, factor in the percentage of starting pitchers who get injured (New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey in 2013; Miami Marlins right-hander Jose Fernandez in 2014; Chicago White Sox left-hander Chris Sale in 2014; and Texas Rangers right-hander Yu Darvish in 2015), and the risk to draft an ace early is not worth the reward. Another point to consider is a starting pitcher will only help in four of the five categories (no saves), while a strong hitter can help in all five categories.

4. Draft Multiple Category Players:
This is what separates fantasy baseball from fantasy football. In the five-by-five league format, players compete against everyone in the league for the entire season and not against a different opponent every week like football. The key is to draft a player who helps in multiple categories, not just one. For example, Houston Astros first baseman Chris Carter is a home run machine and will help you in that one category. But his career batting average is .222, which will destroy a player in the batting average category. Instead, target a guy like Texas Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo, who has a much lower average draft position and will help in multiple categories.

5. Draft Multi-Position Players:
It works well if you draft players that could be plugged in at multiple positions in your roster. It helps in time of injuries when you a need a roster spot filled. Players like Josh Harrison (Pirates), Ryan Zimmermann (Nationals), Ben Zobrist (Athletics), and Martin Prado (Marlins) are available late in the draft and can be insurance plans for some of your starters.

6. Don't equate a player's contract with his fantasy baseball value:
Many fantasy owners over the past few years have shunned Jayson Werth and bought Evan Longoria by subconsciously thinking their overpriced/team-friendly contracts equated with their fantasy values.

There a lot of great fantasy players that aren't always the highest-paid or the fan-favorite of their team. However, that doesn't mean the player isn't consistently productive in fantasy baseball (like Jason Werth).

The Recent NFL Off-Season Shakeups. The Eagles "Shady" McCoy, Nick Foles, Chip Kelly & MUCH More.

Hide your quarterbacks, hide your running backs & tight ends, because everyone is getting traded in the NFL.

The opening of the NFL’s free agent market and trading period erupted Tuesday afternoon not with free agent signings, but with a flurry of trades involving big-name players that could shift the sport’s balance of power. Whatever has caused the NFL to become more trade happy, thank goodness for it.

The NFL once was known as a no-trade league, with teams focusing on the NFL draft and occasional forays into free agency for their roster construction. That, apparently, is no longer the case. The NFL is more fun when general managers are wheeling and dealing like they do in Major League Baseball. We’ve seen a lot of trades including picks for picks or picks for players, but we don’t see a ton of deals that are basically player for player.

The LeSean McCoy-Kiko Alonso trade just turned out to be a precursor of things to come. There were three major trades on Tuesday, as free agency began. With most of the real suspense taken out of free agency by teams and agents agreeing to deals long before the signing period began, the trades took center stage.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford. Eagles coach Chip Kelly isn’t afraid to make a move. He’s been upsetting Eagles fans with his moves. He also has changed the dynamic of the NFC East. I feel like I'm missing something with this deal, because I don't see any benefit for the Eagles.

In the deal, the Eagles also sent a fourth-round draft pick in 2015 and a second-round pick in 2016 to the Rams. The Eagles get the Rams' fifth-round pick in 2015. There’s also a conditional pick. If Sam Bradford, who is coming off a second ACL tear, misses the entire 2015 season, the Eagles get a third-round pick in 2016. If he plays less than 50 percent of the snaps, they get a 2016 fourth-rounder. There’s no conditional pick if he plays more than 50 percent of the downs.

Foles has been the more productive NFL quarterback. Bradford doesn't seem to fit what Kelly does on offense, especially after two major knee injuries. Bradford's base salary in 2015 in a bit less than $13 million, while Foles makes about $1.52 million, according to OverTheCap.com.

So the Eagles might not be getting the best quarterback in the deal (even if you prefer Bradford, it's a lot harder to sell that when Bradford is recovering from a second straight ACL surgery), have to pay Bradford more than eight times what Foles will make, and on top of that they're giving up better picks than the Rams did. Bradford has been a below-average NFL quarterback for any extended period of time.

Maybe there's a subsequent deal that nobody knows about will clear all this up so it makes a little bit of sense. If the Eagles somehow draft Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota as a part of this deal, then it does make sense. But as it stands now, it's baffling.

Now this was a shocker. Tight end Jimmy Graham and the New Orleans Saints battled over his franchise tag status last year, but that was just business. Graham is one of the best pass-catching tight ends ever. He’s one of the NFL’s most unique players as a matchup nightmare for defenses. He was a face of their franchise.

And just like that, he was gone. The Seattle Seahawks, who are in need of a No. 1 target for Russell Wilson to throw to, they got creative. They sent center Max Unger and a first-round pick (31st overall) to the Saints for Graham and a fourth-round pick.

The Saints have made a mess of their salary cap, so trading Graham and his massive deal makes sense from that aspect (although it’s just a $2 million savings on Graham this season, according to Spotrac). They did get a very good center and a late first-round pick back. But, it’s Jimmy Graham.

He doesn’t seem to fit with the Seahawks’ offense because it is built on the running game and Graham isn’t exactly an enthusiastic blocker. But they’ll make it work. Graham is incredible in the passing game and the Seahawks desperately need that.

Seattle clearly got the better end of the deal. The Seahawks got a lot better. And there’s no way the Saints can just replace someone like Graham in the passing game.

The Indianapolis Colts caught running back Frank Gore after his heel turn on the Eagles, signing the 49ers' all-time leading rusher. They landed a pass rusher in Trent Cole, who was cut by Philadelphia. And reports indicate they're the favorites to land receiver Andre Johnson, who was released by AFC South rival Houston. If they can pull off the Johnson signing, that's a lot of championship- hungry veteran talent on a team that seems close to pushing through to a Super Bowl.
Gore upgrades a bad running back situation. Johnson isn't going to be the Hall of Fame talent he once was, but he seems to fit well alongside T.Y. Hilton, especially with Andrew Luck throwing him the ball. Cole is still an effective pass rusher.
There's no excuse for a team like the Colts, with a star quarterback and a team that is on an upward path, to not be aggressive in their pursuit of a title. They're closer now than they were before free agency, especially if they can get Andre Johnson.

The NFL season is far from the season starting, yet there is just as much excitement. I think I can speak on behalf of all NFL fans when I say I can't wait for football season.
